Mike – Beastie Boys “B For My Name” interesting start. The Beastie Boys’s groovy instrumental side a little side of Sly wedged in with a 70’s cop show vibe. Needs horns!
Dan – Deux Filles – “Drinking at a Stream” great choice Dan! Another instrumental…
Pete – Wood Bros. In the Studio “Honey Jar” – Chris Wood country project. A Roots type of funky with a cool break and vocal harmonies. It’s a nice side for Chris Wood, I like the singer (his brother Oliver?) and he plays guitar sparely but all the important bits. Can’t figure out the one instrument?
Rich – I like it already, it’s like some things I’ve played in earlier sessions. Slightly African sounding folk guitar but with some nice strings behind it that sound like a wheezing pipe organ. it has a very somber vibe that is perfect. The drums kick in and it changes. Brightens. Her voice with the swooping strings is glorious. I can’t really hear what she says but thats alright. Some little peaks of distortion pop in. Shannon Lay – “
Nawi’s “Most hated” Tom & Jerry theme song (not Shareable). And a cleanser = Dry Cleaner “Unsmart Lady” – very grungy! Seems newer though.. Mismatch band, seeming like they are sort of in other bands but got together to play. Kept their outfits. Big drummer!
Travis – Crazy! Really weird. Love the saxophonist but can’t place him. Ballsy. Sloppy, but lots of chops. It’s got the vibe and the Free Jazz build up over a Funk groove going for it. Nawi “Relentless” – John Klemmer “Excursion #2”
Bart – Gary Chandler “Outlook” – Bart went on an epic hunt to arrive at this selection. Including many dark Youtube threads which have surprisingly candid accounts on them if you look. Loads of stupidity too. Gary has the wide trumpet tone and rolls with the funk grooves that are pretty standard but well played.
