Dan – William Onyeabor – “Fantastic Man” – Gotta open, so I went for a happy groove tonight. This is a World Psychedelic reissue I have and its definitely part of its own category but never gets much deeper as Rich pointed out. All the tracks have something but probably could be edited into something more powerful.
Travis – Continues with a groove but not the same vibe. Handle – “Step by Step”. Really short but interesting and squeezes a bunch into the track. So quick it leaves me almost no time to have something to say, but it fits with tonights groove.
Rich – Ferde Grofe – Mississippi Suite (1925) : “IV. Mardi Gras” – Rich gives us a great background on Grofe and the ensemble playing this piece. It’s nice to know of him a little beyond his famous work with Gershwin. The ensemble is contemporary yet they try to bring an almost century old chart back to life. They play it with a grand energy.
