Travis – This sounds like Zappa piano playing. But in the way that sometimes the Allman Brothers sound like Zappa a little (and Funkadelic, and occasionally Chicago do too or visa versa). All instrumental is unusual in and of itself for a Pop Rock tune with a few too many notes to truly be Pop. It has some serious Pop leanings within its build, but too busy in the parts. It progresses in a way that suggests it is not Zappa Adjacent. Nicky Hopkins – “Edward”. Nicky is apparently a session musician, from the 70’s, who put out a solo album. It stylistically fits into what I was suggesting above, but it doesn’t seem like he played with any of those creators, but did with almost everyone else. And he absorbed the sounds of the 70’s while he was there.

Dan – Laurence Vanay – “Twin Cities” – This continues the 70’s instrumental solo album non-theme. Jacqueline Thibault was part of Magma, and married to one of the members, she created a few dreamy solo albums under this name as well as some other band names. They are dreamy, electronic, mostly instrumental, and were recommended by Tom Moon’s Echo Locator which I also recommend as a weekly crate digging resource. Auteur music.

T – UDIO AI “An Avant Garde Jazz Tune About Sharks” – “Predatory Depths” – Our first AI song on a Seshjawn! Travis created it with prompt and it depressingly sounds like what I would expect Avant Garde Jazz to sound like. Depressing because if I thought about AI creating Free Jazz I would bet it could not represent something I consider one of the most human art forms, but its pretty accurate. I’d never have known it wasn’t a real group if you didn’t tell me. The song maybe doesn’t get anywhere, but AI has a solid saxophone tone. Also the title it created is excellent. Beginning of the end (of the World)?

Dan – Metro – “Criminal World” – I keep the 70’s theme going, the AI was/is an aberration. This is sort of Bowie as Bluran Bluran. The first 3 songs on the album (an excellent benchmark for a Classic Album) are solid, but the album doesn’t really sustain itself – their style does though. Apparently Bowie covers this tune on Let’s Dance but I do not remember that at all, and I love that album, so I stuck it on the Playlist. Strong 70’s Memorial Music for this Sesh + 1 AI aberration.
