Aside from 25+ years of performing, I am a graduate of Rutgers Jazz History and Research Program. Studying under Dr. Lewis Porter lewis porter.com and Dr. Henry Martin henrymartin.org.
Found Sounds welcomes research inquiries on any subject. Over the years I have created many musical research based projects. Like scoring and performing the music for the Tennessee Williams play Vieux Carre using period pieces described in the text for an Ego Po Theater production at Philadelphia’s Christ Church. Creating a performance set list of early Americana and Blues songs about sicknesses for a 20’s themed celebration at the Mutter Museum . Arranging Ragtime pieces for saxophone quartet. Or creating my thesis A Chronology of Recorded Long Form Compositions in Jazz which included a 350+ page discography of over 650 jazz suites and song cycles. Additionally as a professor of History of Popular Music I generally enjoy researching musical history.
Any question is welcome. Inquiries I will research them, forward them to an appropriate colleague who specializes in a certain subject or respond with a fee if it is applicable to the request. I will also publish the questions and research results in the blog section (unless the request is considered private).
