Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp

Dan – Os Mutantes – “Dia 36” – The sounds here totally blew my mind. They don’t sound like 1968 to me or really anything I have heard before. The song reminds me of something more from the late 80’s like “Fast Car”? but shrouded in grunge. If sunken treasure were a sound, backwards.. . It’s part of my Brazil Sound Journey playlist but also the most mind blowing thing I have heard lately.

Rich – Aterciopelados, “No Necissito” – Not really digging this. It is a little stiff rhythmically and feels predictable. Maybe if I was paying full attention to her voice as Rich seems to be homing in on, I would enjoy it more. It felt like it missed me and in a 90’s Rock way. It does interest me that its in another language and how the song writing is formed but I think if it were in English I would probably not like it at all. The music is all very well played it just feels thin for me.

Travis – This song is all over the place, but with loads of cool parts and really uptempo. Some music sounds to me like it is a DJ but as a band: lots of layers and samples of a variety favorite moments. This has some of that effect: busy, loaded with transitions and lots of referential sounds. Very Travis and very Euro. Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp – “So Many Things (To Feel Guilty About)

Bart – Lester Bowie something… Very NOLA & Don Cherry sounding freeness. Reminds me of Elliott (Levin) with his bendy soprano. There is some “other” sound perhaps the Bass player is singing along quietly or audience noise? Lester’s screeches are incredible and he swings deeply. David Murray/Lester Bowie – “Bechet’s Bounce”
